CFL – Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois uses JANA to analyze JRU data and improve safety on its network
CFL has decided to considerably increase the percentage of analyzed data coming from all engines composing its fleet and to use a platform capable of automatically and systematically analyzing the data.
The objective is to analyze 100% of the train-kilometers, in every network they are circulating on (CFL, SNCF, SNCB, DB). CFL was working with several proprietary systems to analyze part of this data. This implied spending a lot of time in collecting, manipulating and reporting the right information to the right people.
The new platform based on JANA,ERTMS SolutionsJru ANAlyzer, simplifies the analysis, reduces the analysis time, and ensures correct interactions with other software.
JANA proposes a single platform to automate the decoding and the analysis of all JRU records while also enriching the data with other CFL information.
The solution based on the Jru ANAlyzer platform is composed by 3 components:
- JRU data decoding: from vendor-specific binary formats to human-readable values
- Visualization front-end: provides tabular and graphical representations of enriched data in the JRU
- Analysis engine: uses the Logic.Tools semantic intelligence to enrich JRU data with other data sources (infrastructure, HR systems, maintenance, etc.) and detect anomalies (infractions, equipment failures, unusual behavior, abnormal wear, non-green driving, etc.)
The project has been developed in close collaboration between ERTMS Solutions and CFL train operation experts as well as CFL IT and digitalization teams.
The project has been realized in different steps and the web-based application is fully available since 2023.
